Solar energy is energy from the sun. Though it is true that almost all energies come from the sun, solar energy, for practical purposes, is the energy that average citizens can now extract from the sun on their own roof or in their own backyard. This type of energy has been called the "Million Solar Roofs" initiative by Gov. Schwarzenegger  and "Energy Independence" by Gov. Rendell.

Just a decade ago it was utterly inconceivable to average citizens to think that they could generate their own electric power. Today, thanks to historic advances in technology, any household can not only dream of generating their own electric power. . . they can in fact do it.
